Facing the Storm of the Decade

Facing the storm of the decade, how do I prepare myself as a mom?

The news all around us brings fear and restlessness. As a mom, the concern is for my family. It is like a mother hen wrapping her wings around her chicks keeping them safe from predators. In all the commotion, we are not helpless. There are a few ways we can prepare our family and our homes. My first step is to increase my prayer for my loved ones. Every time I face a challenge, I get down on my knees and pray! If a storm is coming, pray that it will pass us by and not touch us. If we are in a storm, pray that things will only get better.

Most importantly, do not let fear take a hold on us. Do not let it cripple us. We need to rise in the face of a storm and say, ‘Peace, be still’. Spread our wings of prayer to cover our family.

The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, 10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him. 16 With long life, I will satisfy him and show him my salvation. (Psalm 91:9-16)

I hold on to God’s promises and repeat this verse every time I’m troubled. Let us begin to pray over our home, our community, our nation and to the world. Pray that God turns things around for the better, pray for God’s covering and pray for a miracle!

Let’s do our 1% prayer every day and see a miracle!

May God bless you and your family.
