True Wealth

6 Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. 7 After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can't take anything with us when we leave it. (1 Timothy 6:6-7, NLT)

Wealth and riches are endless crave among humankind. Some are willing to sacrifice nearly everything to possess them. A segment in our society perceives a wealthy and affluent lifestyle as the success of men. Indeed, those who haven't reach the prosperous lifestyle often dream of it while those who had gone passed; they continue to search for something better; greater and more of a comfort. Earthly riches and wealth could provide temporary pleasure and happiness, but they would not guarantee inner peace and contentment.

What could be missing? My proposal is real and great wealth that's not of the mundane world.

Apostle Paul put forth gentle advice to His spiritual sons and daughters. That real wealth is, first found within godliness and contentment.

When you could settle within your heart, soul and mind that life in itself is riches and hope, blessings bestowed by God since the day you were in the mother's womb. If you agree and feel satisfied with it, a sense of security will quickly sit on you. A peaceful mind is settled and firmly established in Christ's confidence. Out of this flows unlimited opportunities to gather earthly riches and wealth. You will soon realise you have keys to securing them. Having nothing is obtaining everything while holding too much in your hands may cause the unsatisfying soul more sorrows.

A question to ponder, how much do I truly need to live above a comfortable life? Once I have obtained that sum, will I find true satisfaction? Or will my eyes fix on higher price and an enormous amount of wealth? As I've written earlier, holding too much riches and wealth may bring greater sorrows if you can't find contentment in what you already received.

Having nothing is obtaining everything while holding too much in your hands may cause the unsatisfying soul more sorrows.

Let us pray:

Dear God, it's my honour and gratitude to inherit great wealth—both earthly and spiritual riches. I perceive myself as Your servant to these which You promised to my family and generations to come. I bow my heart and soul to You alone so that I could embrace godliness and contentment above all the blessings from heaven and on earth. Remind me, dear God, that the real and great wealth is found only in You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
