Raising Family: So I giggle in my sleep…

I woke up this morning, and my husband said, "I heard you giggling in your sleep, you must be happy." I know this is not the first time, it happens quite often actually, and I don't know why. For some reason, I can't remember what was so funny or what I dreamt, but I do know that 'laughter is the best medicine'. Proverbs 17:22 (NIV) 'A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.'

As a mother, a wife, a sister, a pastor, and a business partner, I need to let laughter into my life. I am learning to laugh when my kids say the silliest things, or small careless mistakes happened at home. Laughter is an excellent way to de-stress and release the tension in the air or our bodies. Every time I laugh out loud, I feel a sense of joy, a release from stress, and I think a lot better. The bible says in Nehemiah 8:10, 'the joy of the Lord is my strength.' Each time when I feel pressure, fear, anxiety or stress, I learn to release joy and laugh at these negative emotions. I laugh at fear and say, "you do not have a hold on me'. I laugh at pressure and say, 'you don't own me'. The joy of the Lord strengthens me and pulls me through hard times and challenging times. I am blessed to have found laughter. The hardest is to get the laughter started, but when it starts, joy fills my soul.

Start today! Let's fill our homes with joy and laughter and make no room for sorrow or anger. Let's intentionally make our home a happy place.
