You don’t need to walk alone.

What is harder than praying?

In my opinion, praying is easy. Let's think of praying like talking or chatting with your closest friend. Here you get to be yourself, which makes both parties comfortable. You get to speak on many subjects, including gossips and because you are with your closest friend, a strong sense of trustworthiness is already established, depending on the years of friendship you both cultivated. Thus, you have no concern about betrayal.

What makes connecting and spending time together with friends difficult is, when all the above attributes are non-existent. Then it is going to be a drag.

So, what makes praying so complicated is when the relationship between you and God is missing. Building a relationship takes time, and time is what you need to set aside when befriending God is your priority.

Building a relationship takes time, and time is what you need to set aside when befriending God is your priority.

Try doing these when you are starting a new lifestyle in befriending God:

  1. Set aside a few minutes daily to chat with Him.
  2. Talk to Him in a casual and most relaxed manner. The key is to be yourself. You don't need to pretend to be somebody else; be you and be the most authentic you.

In this winter season, the way I make myself comfortable and most relaxed in God's presence is to tug myself in bed, covering myself with layers of blanket. Then I begin my conversation with God. Too often I fell asleep chatting with Him, but the moment I woke up, He is still with me. We then continue talking. It is fun, and I recommend you to do just that!
