Once upon a time during the Bronze Age era, a group of prophets were understudying Elisha. The number of disciples outgrew the hostel and very quickly, there ran out of rooms to house these students. They decided to do some renovation to the school, so to enlarge the compound.
They agreed to go and cut some woods, gather some logs for the constructing works. While they were cutting down trees, one of the prophets shouted, “Oh no! The axe-head drops into the river. It is borrowed!!!”
This young prophet felt extremely bad because he borrowed the axe from a lumberjack. Axe is a business tool to the tradesman and it cost a fortune during the era. It probably is as expensive as having a factory’s machinery breaks down which would cost hundreds of thousands to repair.
Elisha came to know of the incident. He asked to show where the axe-head has gone missing. He cut a stick and threw into the river and soon, the axe-head found its way and connected to the stick, both floated and the young prophet retrieved it from the river.
What a miracle!
What is God speaking to us in this story?
The revelation I received is, your mistakes; crisis and mishap are not more powerful than God’s purpose for your life. In fact, God is on the lookout for mistakes made either by you and others; He is on the lookout for crises and problems.
He is ready to turn all these misfortunes into divine opportunity to restore what we thought we had lost. When God restores, it is going to be far more than we used to have. It is more than restoration but His glory would soon be seen!
What mistakes have you made? What problems, crises and mishaps are you in right now?
I want to encourage you to put on the God-centred mindset, not a positive mindset but God-centred mindset. By putting on a God-centred mindset, you will soon position yourself in God and work as a team to retrieve the axe-head. Another word, you will soon witness a divine miracle!
We often think mistakes could be a learning curve but in the eye of God, mistakes can be used to reveal His purpose for our life! Only if we put on the God-centred mindset.
Here are three areas which the Lord desires to restore for you, your family and your nation:
- If you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul, doing everything I command you today, he will restore your fortunes. He will have mercy on you and gather you from all the nations of the world where he will scatter you. Deuteronomy 30:2-3 (GW)
- After Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored Job’s prosperity and gave him twice as much as he had before. Job 42:10 (GW)
- I’ll restore your health and heal your wounds,” declares the Lord. “People call you an outcast: Zion, no one cares for you. Jeremiah 30:17 (GW)
