Week 10: Decorations

Now the God of hope fills you with all joy and peace in believing that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. – Romans 15:13

Christmas is just days away, and I believe most or all decorations are up. Every one of us has a particular style, likes and dislikes when decorating our homes. Each of us is unique, and we should value our differences and enjoy the season without the need to compare or compete. If you haven’t done so already, there’s still time to put up some decor.

If you like to keep decorating simple, there are a few simple and budget-friendly ways to spruce up our home for Christmas.

Firstly, lights are essential when it comes to ambience and cosiness. The best lights are the Christmas lights, the ones you hang on the tree. Christmas lights can also use it on garlands or the centrepiece on the dining table. There is something nostalgic about the warm glow of these lights. It brings the wonder of Christmas. Just placing some lights around your home will instantly give you a cosy feeling.

Another idea is to use your wrapped gifts as decoration pieces, whether placed under the Christmas tree or staged on the foyer table. Beautifully wrapped gifts can be decor around your home, and the best part is that they will not need to be stored away after Christmas.

Edible decorations are the best and most likely used up during this festive season. There are many ideas on the internet, and some of them are as simple as wrapping a raisin box or placing candy canes around the home. Edible decorations do not need to be stored after Christmas as well. Eat them up or spread the love and share it with friends and family or even your neighbour.

Last but not least, everyone in the home can contribute to the decorations. For example, hang up everyone’s Christmas cards together to make a masterpiece on the wall. Another idea is to have each person design a poster or art piece. This decor is meaningful, and it creates a lasting memory.

The most valuable decoration in our homes is the smile we carry and our homes’ joy and comfort. So remember to spend time with loved ones and create new memories.

Have a very Merry Christmas!
