Planning and Preparing in the Event of a National Crisis

The News.com.au published on the 26th February 2020, states that "it’s coming..is just how long it takes to come." It says, "A virologist at the forefront of coronavirus research has warned Australians to stock up on essentials to prepare for home quarantine and school and work closures when the new coronavirus sweeps through the country."

Upon reading this, I must say I panic a little, and I pray that this will never happen, but still, I must take note and start preparing. The first thing I did was to put a list of some essentials I will need to stock up. Every home dietary and essentials are different, but I thought I would share some of the basics.

  1. Toiletries: toothpaste, toilet paper, tissue boxes, bath soap, shampoo and conditioner, (for ladies: sanitary pads).
  2. Household cleaning supplies: dishwashing liquid, multi-purpose cleaner and disinfectant.
  3. Food supplies: Carbohydrates such as rice, pasta, noodles, cereals, oats. Frozen meat, fruits and vegetables. Condiments, seasoning and cooking oils.
  4. Vitamins and supplements or medication: Vitamin C, etc.

These are just some necessities. You can add and adjust according to the needs of your family.

Let’s hope for the best and prepare for the worst. When we are ready, it keeps us at peace, and we do not need to worry about stocking up at the last minute.

Stay safe, stay prepared.

God bless you.
