You don’t need to walk alone.

Honour God with your body

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honour God with your body.

(1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NLT)

Growing up as a high schooler, dad bought me a BMX. It was my favourite bike, and I feel so proud of it. The bike has a red body frame and yellow spot rims. I cycled with my friends nearly every day, and I took care of it well, and frequently cleaned the bike.

Later in the high school year, I finally received a drivers license. Dad bought me a car, and I started driving my younger brother to school. And yes, I enjoyed the role of a driver thoroughly. Also, I took care of it, washed and polished it regularly.

Dad was proud of me because I was responsible and diligent in taking care of those gifts.

Our Heavenly Father could feel proud of us too. He gifted us with life on earth. And I sincerely believe we are to be a good and faithful servant by taking care of this life. A simple reason is, our life is no longer ours but Christ. He paid a very high price for it. He shed blood and died for this life, the body, as well as the soul. Therefore, we have to take good care of it. By doing so, we are honouring God with our body, soul and life.

There are many ways to honour God with our body. Live a healthy lifestyle by eating clean, have a sufficient amount of rest daily, frequently exercise to keep the body fit and healthy. Guard our thoughts and align them with the truths. Do not sin, especially avoid sexual sins.

I believe you have creative ideas to honour God with your body. Perhaps you could pass your knowledge down to others?

Let’s pray

Dear God, I thank You for sharing Jesus to me. You allowed Him to die for my sins, and with His blood and life, He purchases me from damnation. Instead of keeping it for Himself, He now entrusts me with this body and life. I ask for grace, strength and self-control to live this life to the full. May my daily life bring joy and glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!
