Doing God’s will

For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.
(Mark 3:35, NKJV)

By Caleb A. Tan

Hi joyful people, I trust you are well! Did you know there’s a verse in the Gospel of Mark that says you and I could become a brother or sister to Jesus? Its Jesus’ very own affirmation.

Jesus said, “For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.” He was saying it plainly, and the way to become His family is to do God’s will.

There are two things about doing God’s will. The first is to believe in Jesus that He is the Son of God and follow Him. The second is to do what the Father wants. Have you figured out what the Father wants you to do for Him while living on the earth?

I used to think doing God’s will is a mission so great that only the top 5% among the seven billion people have the power to do so. To fulfil God’s will, one has to be anointed, trained in the Bible School, or serve in the church. Or else the person would not be equipped or qualified for the task. Well, guess what? All it takes to do God’s will is a heart that loves Jesus, and an attitude that is eager to obey His living and written Word.

It’s supposed to be a straightforward thing, but we made it complicated. All we need is love. Pure love and passion to be like Jesus. When we can cultivate a heart of pure love and devotion to Jesus, fulfilling God’s will would be like a daily routine. One other example of doing the will of God is Matthew 25:35-40.

So what is stopping you from taking your first step in doing God’s will? If you can’t figure it out, go to your local church pastor or spiritual leaders. Share your desire and ask for guidance.

Stay happy, stay healthy!
