TODAYS

You don’t need to walk alone.

Buying Freedom

For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time. (1 Timothy 2:5-6, NLT)

It is the right thing to do when we follow Christ’ footstep to bring freedom to others. To do the right thing, we are to share the Gospel wherever we go and to whoever we connect to, for now, is the right time.

Many legends in the history of the world gave their lives for others. To name two of my favourite freedom fighters, William Wilberforce, who fought against the slave trade. Through his dedication, he abolished slavery and brought freedom to mainly black people.

My second freedom fighter is Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation of India who laid down his life to promoting the doctrine of nonviolent protest (satyagraha, holding onto truth) to achieve political and social progress. As a result, approximately 368 million people received freedom from social injustice.

Our Lord Jesus gave His life for the human race. Regardless of skin colours, diversity in cultures, religious practices, philosophical differences; in the sight of God, we deserve freedom from sins and receive a pardon from eternal condemnation. He uses His life and blood to purchase freedom for everyone, including those who prosecuted and carried out a life sentence by brutally nailing Him on the cross. He is the ultimate freedom fighter.

Due to Jesus’ efforts, we are made free. Should we continue to live like slaves, or should we work towards reigning with Christ by offering freedom to others? We have choices to make, and we should feel compelled to introduce Christ to our generation, most importantly, to our family members. By doing so, they would receive knowledge of salvation and obtaining freedom from sins and eternal damnation.

It is the right thing to do when we follow Christ’ footstep to bring freedom to others. To do the right thing, we are to share the Gospel wherever we go and to whoever we connect to, for now, is the right time.

Let us pray:

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for taking up the cross for the sake of my freedom. You chose to die so that I can enjoy eternal freedom afterlife on earth. I pray for divine opportunities ahead of me to introduce the message of salvation, freedom from sins and eternal condemnation and best of all, the Gospel of Your kingdom to my family and friends. Holy Spirit, please direct my footstep to do the right thing, right. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!
